The Shepherd University Foundation is pleased to announce the receipt of a $1,000 donation from the Charles Town Kiwanis Club to the Charles Town Kiwanis Club Scholarship, which provides general academic support to eligible Shepherd University students. The check was presented to the Shepherd University Foundation president Ramon Alvarez by Ralph A. Lorenzetti, Jr., president of the Charles Town Kiwanis Club.
Facilitated by Mickey Johnson, a longtime active member of the Kiwanis Club and fund contact, the gift marks 45 years of continuous support of Shepherd University by the renowned civic organization. The Charles Town Kiwanis Club was the first organization to make a gift to the Foundation after its creation in the 1960s.
“Kiwanis has always believed that Shepherd is a vital part of this community and we’re happy to support it,” said Lorenzetti.
The Charles Town Kiwanis Club supports student programs at the elementary, high school, and college level, and raises money through local community activities. Meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of each month at 6 p.m. in the Epic Buffet located in the Hollywood Casinos in Charles Town.
