Spilman Member Amsbary Elected President of the WV State Bar

Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announces David D. Amsbary, partner at the law firm’s Huntington office, as president of the West Virginia State Bar. He will bring his deep legal knowledge, leadership acumen and commitment to professional excellence to this esteemed role.

As president, Amsbary will lead the State Bar in its mission to uphold the integrity of the legal profession, ensure access to justice and support attorneys throughout West Virginia.

“I look forward to continuing the Bar’s tradition of strong and forward-thinking leadership,” Amsbary says. “I’m both honored and humbled that my colleagues in the legal community see fit for me to take up this mantle. The legal profession plays a critical role in our society, and I am committed to ensuring that our members have the resources and support they need to serve their clients and communities effectively.”

Michael J. Basile, Spilman’s managing member, adds that this election is a commendation of Amsbary’s consistent leadership within the state’s legal community.

At Spilman, Amsbary’s primary areas of practice are health care law, labor and employment law, commercial transactions and litigation. He has experience representing clients in civil litigation, arbitration and administrative matters in state and federal courts. He also represents clients before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, United States Department of Labor, West Virginia Human Rights Commission and West Virginia Unemployment Board of Review.

Amsbary is admitted to practice law in West Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio and Kentucky. He earned his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts and his law degree from The Ohio State University.
