Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC (Spilman) announced that Sharon L. “Shari” Potter has been named Member in Charge of the law firm’s Wheeling office.
“Spilman’s Wheeling office opened in 2006 to better serve clients in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, southeastern Ohio and the surrounding region,” Potter said. “The office has since grown into a full-service operation. I am excited by the opportunities to build on this foundation.”
Potter succeeds David R. Croft as the Member in Charge of the Wheeling office. Shifting his focus fully toward serving the needs of clients, Croft will continue to manage his growing, full-time law practice at Spilman.
“After several years as Member in Charge of the Wheeling office, I have decided, and firm management has concurred, that the highest and best use of my time is to focus on my law practice,” Croft said. “I have known Shari for many years and am completely confident that the office leadership is in very capable hands.”
Potter is leader of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense & Compliance Group. Her law practice focuses on internal corporate investigation, white collar criminal defense and complex litigation. She is also a member of The Battle Group, a group of highly experienced Spilman trial lawyers.
Potter served as United States Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia from 2006-2009. She is admitted to practice law in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
