The STICK Tattoo Company is now accepting submissions for its second annual Never Forget 9/11 Tattoo Tribute contest. In 2014, STICK awarded three tattoos to deserving entries chosen by its in-house artists.
“Our Never Forget contest is a unique way for us to give of our talents in remembrance of a very tragic day in our country’s history,” said Damian Ferek, STICK Tattoo Company owner. “Good things can sometimes come from horrible circumstances, and we think last year’s winners showcase that. We hope to hear some truly inspiring stories this year as well.”
Last year’s winners were:
- Tyler Burroughs, who served three tours in Iraq as an infantryman, won a patriotic tattoo in the 2014 Never Forget contest that included a battlefield cross and dog tags. You can watch Burrough’s getting his tattoo last year at http://www.sticktattoo.com/stick-tattoo-never-forget-tribute-winner-tyler-burroughs/.
- Independent contractor and abstractor Scott Preston, a volunteer firefighter in Buckhannon, WV, received a tattoo in remembrance of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. You can see more of his tattoo at http://www.sticktattoo.com/stick-tattoo-never-forget-tribute-winner-scott-preston/
- Sara Dawson was inspired by the tragic events of that fateful day, and her career path as an EMT inspired STICK’s artists who chose her as a winner last year. She chose a design meaningful to her details, of which you can see at http://www.sticktattoo.com/stick-tattoo-never-forget-tribute-winner-sara-dawson/.
This year’s contest will follow the same format with entries accepted via a form at www.sticktattoo.com/neverforget. Entries also will be accepted in person at STICK’s one-year anniversary party scheduled from 12-9 p.m. on August 29 at the shop’s Suncrest Towne Centre location. Winners will be selected and announced August 31 and must be willing to receive their ink on September 11, 2015.
