Trane, a leading global provider of home comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand (NYSE: IR), is debuting its newest innovation at Comfortech 2013: the TruComfortTM line of variable speed air conditioners and heat pumps. These state-of-the-art systems deliver precise and efficient comfort by running their compressors at the exact speed needed to keep homes at the ideal temperature, no matter what the conditions. This newest addition to Trane’s catalog of innovations – including more than 1,500 patents – will be showcased to dealers, industry professionals and media at the Comfortech 2013 trade show on September 18-20 in Philadelphia.

Conventional heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC) systems operate much like a car engine in stop-and-go traffic; they constantly start and stop until the targeted temperature is reached. In comparison, Trane TruComfort variable speed technology utilizes the same efficiencies as a vehicle at highway speeds while on cruise control. Featuring a ComfortLink II Communicating Control Board with refrigerant cooled inverter, it consistently optimizes its run speed, often at lower outputs, to provide continuous comfort within a half degree of the targeted temperature. This eliminates uncomfortable temperature swings and provides energy-efficient, quiet operation.

“Trane TruComfort represents our commitment to innovation. It provides homeowners with unstoppable comfort and value,” said Tim Storm, Trane Outdoor Product Marketing Manager. “We’re pleased to be unveiling it to the world at Comfortech, one of the industry’s finest shows.”

Variable speed technology is not new for Trane. The brand was the first HVAC manufacturer to apply variable speed technology to residential cooling in the early 1990s. Now, in its 100th year, Trane has perfected the technology with the TruComfort XV20i and XV18i air conditioners and heat pumps. And because TruComfort variable speed technology works seamlessly with Trane’s ComfortLinkTM II Control and NexiaTM Home Intelligence smart home system, homeowners can manage their home’s heating and cooling remotely via any Web-enabled smartphone, tablet or computer.
