Two years after its debut, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is now available in 473 markets and extends to 273.5 million potential customers. Already the world’s largest commercial 4G LTE network, the Verizon Wireless network continues to grow with recent expansions in West Virginia, including Mercer County and other locations.
This network expansion in West Virginia is helping to enhance the delivery of health care in the state by boosting the speed at which data from ambulances can be delivered to hospital emergency rooms, and is powering solutions like those implemented by Applied Medical Information, Inc., at Valley Health. Leveraging the incredible bandwidth of the network, first responders are able to wirelessly send vital patient information so that the emergency room is well-informed and ready to provide care immediately.
Transmitting real-time electrocardiogram and stroke data, electronic health records, lab tests and capturing and sharing crucial video from a trauma scene over a reliable and secure network has had a major impact on the ability to treat heart attack, stroke and trauma patients quickly and improve patient care.
“By expanding our 4G LTE network to more West Virginia towns and cities, we’re helping to deliver powerful solutions to pressing health care issues and help caregivers better meet patients’ needs,” says Mike Maiorana, Verizon Wireless region president.
