Fulltime support for distance education is part of the New Year plan at West Liberty University.
“Faculty member Ann Rose was formerly filling the position of distance education director in addition to her teaching duties. As of January 2014, she is the fulltime director of this important area. We look forward to her efforts and the growth that it will allow us to enjoy,” said Provost Brian Crawford.
Rose’s office is located in Main Hall.
“This is a wonderful step towards growth at West Liberty,” said Rose. “I’m excited for the opportunities it presents.”
West Liberty first began to focus on online classes in 2009 and currently has about 60 classes offered online. Faculty who develop online classes must complete the Hilltopper Online Learning Institute (HOLI), which Rose coordinates.
Previously, Rose was an associate professor of education, having joined WLU in the fall of 2000.
A native of Franklin, Pa., she earned two bachelor degrees in both visual arts and mathematics from Marietta College (Ohio and also holds a master’s in curriculum and instruction-computer educator from Ashland University (Ohio).
She is a doctoral candidate (All But Dissertation/ABD) at West Virginia University for a degree in instructional design and learning theory.
