This leadership academy aims to inform between 1,400-1,500 students of college options and empower them to take charge of their futures. West Virginia State University’s President Anthony Jenkins will be awarding ten $1,000 scholarships to a GEAR UP student from each of the GEAR UP counties. Clint Pulver will serve as the keynote speaker. Pulver is an author, musician, workforce expert and motivational speaker.

Who:
West Virginia GEAR UP is a federally funded college readiness project coordinated by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. The project serves students in 10 counties: Boone, Fayette, Mason, Mercer, Mingo, Nicholas, Summers, Webster, Wirt and Wyoming.
