West Virginia–based health care professional and author CC Nichols has released a new book titled “I Can’t Believe They Let Me In: Confronting Imposter Syndrome and Letting Yourself In.” The book examines the often unspoken impact of imposter syndrome, burnout and performance pressure in demanding professional environments.

Drawing on more than two decades of experience in health care, pharmaceuticals, corporate leadership and creative work, Nichols explores how self-doubt affects decision-making, confidence and long-term sustainability. The book focuses on high-pressure roles where personal identity and professional performance are closely connected. Rather than treating imposter syndrome as a weakness, Nichols presents it as a common experience among high performers.

“Almost everyone assumes they’re the only ones questioning themselves,” Nichols says. “In reality, self-doubt is common among people who care about doing their work well. This book is about recognizing that and learning how to move forward instead of getting stuck.”

The book is grounded in Nichols’ experiences growing up and living in West Virginia. It reflects on how regional culture, resilience and self-reliance influence leadership identity and expectations. Through personal stories, research and practical insight, “I Can’t Believe They Let Me In” offers a clear-eyed and often wry look at how acknowledging self-doubt can strengthen leadership effectiveness and personal resilience.

Nichols is a Navy veteran and lifetime West Virginia resident who currently works in health care leadership and marketing. His work centers on communication, decision-making and sustainability in high-pressure organizations.

The book is available at major retailers and ccnicholsauthor.com.
