West Virginia State University (WVSU) and Bridgemont Community and Technical College (Bridgemont CTC) have signed an agreement creating a 2 + 2 partnership between the two Kanawha Valley schools.
The articulation agreement was signed today by WVSU President Dr. Brian O. Hemphill and Bridgemont CTC President Dr. Jo Harris.
“Through this partnership, WVSU continues to put students’ needs first, ensuring an affordable, quality education remains accessible for our future leaders right here in the Kanawha Valley,” Hemphill said. “I look forward to welcoming the newest members of the State family to our Institute campus, and I am grateful to President Harris and her team for their dedication to developing this partnership.”
Through this new partnership, students will have a seamless transition, in a variety of degree fields, as they continue their education at WVSU after obtaining an associate’s degree from Bridgemont CTC.
“This agreement with West Virginia State University provides Bridgemont CTC associate degree graduates the opportunity to pursue baccalaureate degrees if they choose to continue their education,” Harris said. “The seamless matriculation of credits, coupled with the close proximity of the two colleges, presents a wide array of program options for our students. I am appreciative of the work of the academic affairs faculty and staff at WVSU and Bridgemont CTC who worked together to develop these pathways for our educational partnership.”
The 2 + 2 partnership will provide greater educational opportunities in the areas of business, including accounting and management, computer and information technology, digital design and print communications, general studies, teacher education and health sciences.
Bridgemont CTC and Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College (KVCTC) announced earlier this year that they would reorganize into one multi-campus institution named BridgeValley Community and Technical College. The new 2 + 2 partnership with WVSU will continue with BridgeValley.
Earlier this year, WVSU and KVCTC signed articulation agreements for 2 + 2 partnerships in the areas of Criminal Justice, Art, History, English with a Literature option, and Health Sciences Leadership in Allied Health and Rehabilitation.
