A member of the West Virginia State University (WVSU) communications and marketing team has received an award from the Association for Communication Excellence (ACE) in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Life and Human Sciences, the national association for communications professionals working within the Cooperative Extension System.
Communications Specialist Stacy Herrick will receive the ACE Pioneer Award, which honors members who demonstrate exceptional leadership and technical skills and make significant contributions to ACE during their early careers.
Herrick joined the WVSU Communications and Marketing team in 2013, providing graphic design support for WVSU Extension Service and other campus units.
“We couldn’t be more proud to see Stacy’s work honored by ACE,” said WVSU Extension Service Director Dr. Ami Smith. “She has truly elevated our communications and marketing efforts since joining the team and continues to raise the bar with each project she takes on.”
Herrick holds a bachelor of arts in art from Washington & Jefferson College and a master of science in information design and technology from State University of New York Polytechnic Institute. Prior to coming to work for WVSU, she served as a communications specialist at Washington & Jefferson College and as a pre-press specialist at Morgantown Printing & Binding.
In addition to Herrick’s award, the poster for the 2020 West Virginia Urban Agriculture Conference & Community Expo, hosted annually by WVSU Extension Service, received a Silver Award from ACE for creative poster design. The poster, a play on the classic Woodstock design, promoted the conference’s 2020 “Chickenstock” theme.
The awards, part of ACE’s annual Critique and Awards program, will be presented at the 2020 ACE Conference, being held virtually in June.
