Cardiovascular disease claims the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. In fact, many even dismiss it as an “older man’s disease.” Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. This means the women in our lives; women just like you – mothers, sisters, and friends – are dying at the rate of one per minute because they don’t know what you know: heart disease kills.
To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women, WVU Heart Institute and The National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health will present its 7th annual Women Love Your Heart education and screening event. This is the 3rd year we are delivering the event at the WVU Heart Institute.
We need your help to deliver the Women Love Your Heart education and screening event, Saturday, February 2, 2013. This is a multi-disciplinary holistic event covering medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy and allied health. It truly takes a village to deliver an event of this magnitude. “Women Love Your Heart” events celebrate the energy, passion and power we have as women to band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke.
We need at least 40 volunteers. We have two shifts to cover. 7:30am-11:00am and 11:00am- 5:00PM. The volunteer positions may include students. Please consider helping us.
Please call us at 304-293-0946 to volunteer or for additional information.
