The West Virginia Small Business Development Center will offer a free business fundamentals workshop Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in Ohio County. The workshops will be held in the West Virginia Northern Community College B&O Building, Room 418, 1704 Market Street, Wheeling. Business Coach Donna Schramm will lead the session.
The Regional Development Funding Corporation (RDFC) is extending its sponsorship of WV SBDC business fundamentals workshops through March 31, 2019. The sponsorship allows WV SBDC to offer the workshops without the standard $35 registration fee.
The course covers what entrepreneurs need to know to start a business in West Virginia. That includes practical basics such as getting a business license, identifying the market and writing a business plan that can build credibility with potential lenders.

After attending a workshop, interested entrepreneurs can take the next step by arranging to meet with a WV SBDC business coach. The meetings are one-on-one between the entrepreneur and the WV SBDC business coach. The statewide network of WV SBDC coaches are skilled individuals with professional certifications. They provide guidance in areas such as exporting, innovation, technology and economic development, finance, management, cybersecurity and marketing.
