A business educational seminar for innovative West Virginians explains how to transform an idea into a new product and get it to market. The West Virginia Innovates  session will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, 1 – 3:30 p.m., Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI), 100 Angus E. Payton Drive, South Charleston.

The introductory-level West Virginia Innovates training focuses on how to move a new product through the stages of commercialization. Topics include business model options such as licensing versus creating a startup, learning how to analyze market potential, finding technical resources, financing and obtaining patents. West Virginia Innovates is separate from the Business Fundamentals workshops, which focus on business startup and planning.

There is a $35-per-person fee for the seminar payable online or at the door. To register, visit the WVSBDC Training Calendar at www.wvsbdc.com, or contact Justin Gaull at 304-957-2082, justin.m.gaull@wv.gov.

Presented by the WVSBDC In-Tech program, the training seminar will be offered at venues around the state each month for the remainder of the year.

After completing the training, interested entrepreneurs or business owners may schedule an appointment with WVSBDC for one-on-one coaching sessions. The WVSBDC coaches provide assistance with business plan development, financial statement preparation, cash flow analysis and other services.
