Representatives from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM), a nationally recognized osteopathic medical school in Lewisburg, W.Va., will visit three hospitals in the Charleston area.

WVSOM admissions counselors will meet with those interested in medical school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, outside of the cafeteria at Women and Children’s Hospital, General Hospital and Memorial Hospital.

Potential students will learn more about WVSOM, primary care medicine and the osteopathic philosophy. Osteopathic physicians treat the patient as a whole person. This results in a more holistic approach to patients and an increased focus on preventive medicine. One in five U.S. medical school students are currently enrolled in an osteopathic medical school.

As part of WVSOM’s recruitment efforts, the representatives will be providing information on admissions requirements and financial aid.

For more information, contact the WVSOM admissions office at 888-276-7836.

WVSOM is a national leader in educating osteopathic physicians for primary care medicine in rural areas. Visit WVSOM online at www.wvsom.edu.
