Administrators from West Virginia State University (WVSU) and Bridgemont Community and Technical College (Bridgemont CTC) have begun discussions on a collaboration between the two institutions, specifically forming a 2 + 2 partnership.
The potential partnership will provide greater educational opportunities in the areas of business, including accounting and management, computer and information technology, digital design and print communications, general studies, teacher education and health sciences.
“Bridgemont CTC is excited about these discussions, as a partnership would provide increased access for students to continue their education, and therefore become part of a highly skilled workforce in the greater Kanawha Valley and across West Virginia,” said Bridgemont CTC President Dr. Jo Harris.
President Harris added, “A partnership with WVSU is a natural fit given Bridgemont CTC’s presence at the West Virginia Regional Technology Park in neighboring South Charleston and its merger with Kanawha Valley CTC, an institution with a history of partnership with WVSU.”
“At WVSU and across the state’s higher education system, we are collectively committed to providing high quality academic programming options for all students,” said WVSU President Dr. Brian O. Hemphill. “President Harris and I look forward to continuing discussions regarding a 2 + 2 partnership as we work together to produce graduates who become leaders in their respective fields, and who ultimately provide benefit to communities all across West Virginia.”
Administrative and academic leadership from both institutions are currently exploring partnership details including timelines, requirements and methods.
Representatives from WVSU and Bridgemont CTC meet to begin formal partnership discussions.
