West Virginia University President Gordon Gee is on the road again.
After visiting all 55 counties of West Virginia in 2014, Gee is traveling many of those same country roads this summer.
Again, he’s sharing the university’s story and listening to big ideas as he meets and greets West Virginians from all walks of life. But, this time, he’s also emphasizing the role WVU can play in shaping the economy.
“This year it is about jobs and opportunities,” Gee said. “This is not a state of big cities. This is not a state of big businesses. But it is a state of big ideas. Small businesses create those big opportunities and big ideas.”
Among the businesses Gee visited on June 24 were Appalachian Glass in Weston, Holl’s Chocolates in Vienna and the Pioneer Grille in Glenville. Gee’s travels that day took him to Wood, Wirt, Gilmer, Lewis and Harrison counties.
