What’s better than feasting? Watching chefs create the food!
YWCA Charleston will host its annual Foodie Feast on Sunday, November 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston, WV. The brunch is a fresh, modern twist on a conventional Thanksgiving where folks can sample unique creations and traditional favorites made by various chefs. The annual event is sponsored by Encova and started as a dinner at Wellington’s more than 25 years ago.
Many Kanawha Valley restaurants supported our virtual and in-restaurant events during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are excited to return to the full experience of an in-person event this year! We are featuring local chefs to provide guests with a peek behind the creative process.
Each chef will provide 300-400 samples of their unique spin on a Thanksgiving favorite. The food would be prepared in advance so that chefs can focus on the live demonstration of techniques while providing any tips and advice on how to make the dish at home. We will share the recipes from the event with the guests.
All proceeds benefit YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families, which serves homeless single women, women with children, men with custody of their children, intact families and veterans. The program provides shelter, counseling, substance use intervention, educational advancement, job training and placement. In the last year, YWCA Sojourner’s provided 23,710 nights of shelter for 683 homeless children and adults.
The funds from Foodie Feast help bridge a financial gap within the Sojourner’s program, where we can continue addressing the needs of the entire family by providing a safe environment of hope, dignity and acceptance. Sojourner’s residents can actively engage in the services available to achieve economic and housing stability.
Tickets are $50 for individuals. Special ticket prices for children and extra perks for VIP ticket holders are available on the website. Sponsorships are still available.
