Downtown Charleston will celebrate its vibrant creative community at ArtWalk Thursday, April 21 from 5-8 p.m. at participating galleries, studios and businesses.

The April 21 Downtown Charleston ArtWalk will feature the following exhibits:

Art Emporium – Award winning photographer Betty Rivard will present the exhibit “Mostly WV Landscapes” at the Art Emporium. The exhibit includes new enlargements of classic work as well as a sampling from exhibits of photographs of New York City, Detroit, and Quebec.

Capitol Conference Center –Chris Wood will be the featured artist at Capitol Conference Center, and FOOTMAD will present a jam session featuring traditional bluegrass music.

Charleston Ballet – Janet Chambers will show her paintings featuring birds, wildflowers and scenes of America’s beauty. Among other projects, Janet also focuses on capturing the beauty of North America’s fish and creating miniature paintings incorporated into jewelry as wearable art. Delfine’s Jewelry – Artists Alethia Stollings and Angela Rexroad will be featured at Delfine’s Jewelry during ArtWalk. Stollings is an abstract artist and will show her abstract art piece titled “Abstract Gold and Emerald.”

Gallery Eleven –The studio will feature guest artists Sarah Taylor and Newman Jackson during ArtWalk.

Heidi Dylan – Celebrate the opening of the boutique’s new Capitol Street location featuring eclectic women’s, juniors and girls clothing.

House of Luxe – Morgan Richards, the designer behind the handmade bespoke leather accessories brand Morgan Rhea, will be the featured artist at the House of Luxe. Richards hand assembles timeless pieces with personalized stories and superb craftsmanship. The collection is designed for the individual who wants to express their personal journey through an accessory that is a conversation in its self.

Northwestern Mutual – The Children Therapy Clinic will present its 2nd Annual Art Auction for Autism during ArtWalk at Northwestern Mutual. Artwork auctioned off is part of the Community Puzzle Piece Challenge, in recognition of National Autism Awareness Month during April. All puzzle pieces have been sponsored and decorated by local businesses or groups for the auction.

Oddbird Gift Emporium – The newly-opened boutique will present the work of Tamarack artist Staci Leech –Cornell as its ArtWalk artist. Cornell was raised in Greenbrier Co., WV where she grew to love her family’s’ incredible collections of ceramic birds and other nick-knacks. That love is now expressed through her drawings, paper works, and gouache paintings.

Quarrier Diner – The featured artists will be jewelry designer Ruth Ann Stigall and Chris Wood of Trillium Mountain Studio. The restaurant will also feature the music of pianist Mark Caldwell and feature a wine/beer tasting.

Romano & Associates – West Virginia Child Advocacy Network (WVCAN) will present its 4th annual silent art auction at Romano & Associates during ArtWalk. Attendees have the chance to bid on artwork by talented West Virginian artists, while enjoying wine and light refreshments. The donated masterpieces will be a variety of media, and the proceeds will be split 50/50 with half going to the artist and half going to benefit services to child abuse victims in West Virginia.

The Art Store – The Art Store will present Botanical Life, a solo exhibition of new oil paintings by artist, Edward Kellogg.In this recent body of work, Kellogg brings the viewer into an intimate view of streams and gives the viewer a detailed look at botanical life in the mountains with extreme close-ups focusing on the various forms of vegetation. Kellogg has been exhibiting his artwork with The Art Store since 1983.

Tony the Tailor – The men’s clothing store will feature an Oxxford Clothes Trunk show and an Agave Denim Trunk Show during ArtWalk. The featured musician will be guitarist Rusty Marks.

Viking Contracting – Stop in to see the custom cabinetry and counter tops produced byViking.

Virginia Lee – Virginia Lee feature the fashion and lifestyle sketches from the talented artists, Holly Nichols of H. Nichols Illustration & Jamel Saliba of Melsys Illustration. Holly, a Boston based artist, has accumulated a following of over 401,000 Instagram followers. Saks Fifth Avenue recently recruited her to sketch fashion week illustrations for their social media and website. Jamel splits her time from Boston to New York and has over 67,000 Instagram followers.

Other venues participating in this month’s ArtWalk include: Blossom Dairy, Boutique by B.Belle Events, Chet Lowther Studio, Gilded Age Tattoo, Ivors, Lord Hoosier Law Firm and The Purple Moon/Modern by Design.
