YMCA of Kanawha Valley honored K. Richard C. Sinclair as the 2013 Spirit of the Valley recipient at an August 21, 2013 luncheon. The Spirit of the Valley campaign recognizes an individual from the community that has exemplified what Saint Francis described as a life of “charity and wisdom, patience and humility.” The campaign also raises funds for the YMCA Community Assistance Fund and YMCA programs.

This marks the 29th year for the YMCA Annual Support Campaign. Last year, the YMCA provided more than $245,000 in community assistance for access to childcare, programs and facilities. Through the campaign, the recipient chooses other charities to assist and Mr. Sinclair chose the Childhood Language Center and West Virginia Read Aloud.

President John Giroir says, “We are excited to honor the selfless contributions of Richard Sinclair to the community. Richard is known throughout the Kanawha Valley for his tireless efforts in assisting with charity organizations and YMCA of Kanawha Valley is proud to recognize him.”

Mr. Sinclair is the President of the Jefferds Corporation. His wife of 41 years is Marion Evans Jefferds, they have three children and six grandchildren.
