Thirty military veterans from throughout the Tri-State area will be on Marshall University’s Huntington campus on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, to receive Quilts of Valor from the West Virginia chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation.

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. Tommy Reynolds, director of military and veterans affairs at Marshall, said the ceremony starts at 2 p.m. on the Memorial Student Center plaza.

The veterans who will receive the quilts served in various major conflicts since World War II.

The quilts are made by volunteers, about 20 of whom plan to attend the presentations at Marshall. This will be the first time these women will get to meet the veterans who receive their quilts.
