Enjoy the peaceful setting that North Bend State Park offers during the fall Quilters Get-A-Way Weekend Oct. 22-26. This four-day experience is a relaxing time to spend working on unfinished projects or taking a class to learn from skilled quilters.
“North Bend offers several quilters retreats during the year, but the autumn long-weekend event encourages some holiday thinking as well as providing time to spend with friends and share ideas,” said Ken Zebo, activities coordinator at North Bend State Park.
Marilyn Maher is a featured instructor. Her class, “Celebrations,” features the making of a holiday table runner or wall hanging. Participants will select a holiday and an appropriate kit will be provided. Karen Harris, another featured instructor, offers “Big Stitch Quilting,” a class done with #8 pearl cotton thread to give your project an old-fashioned look simply and efficiently.
Instructions about fabrics and supplies will be given upon registration for either class. Marilyn’s class will be offered Wednesday through Saturday and Karen’s class will be offered Thursday through Sunday. A refreshment station with coffee, tea and water will be provided. Quilters may bring their own refreshments or snacks.
Quilters Get-A-Way weekend packages are available for single room occupancy or up to four-person room occupancy. The package includes three nights lodging and activities. Double occupancy rate is $257.34. Activity fees without lodging are $30. Advance registration is required.
To register for the classes and activities, contact Marilyn Maher at 304-428-7424 or Karen Harris at 304-386-4238 to secure a space and receive a supply list or kit for their classes. Class size is limited so early registration is recommended. For lodging, call North Bend State Park at 304-643-2931.
