Those celebrating New Year’s Eve at Twin Falls State Park will bring in 2015 by donning masks and hats. “Mardi Gras Masquerade” is the theme and dress for the dance party is “as you like” or masquerade attire.
“It’s all about having fun, good food and dancing Dec. 31,” according to Tanya Humphreys, event coordinator.
New Year’s Eve is a Wednesday and the Wyoming County destination has one-night packages for two that include accommodations, dinner at Twin Falls Restaurant, dance and music by DJ Will Shumate, appetizers throughout the evening, a complimentary souvenir Champagne glass, Champagne toast at midnight and party favors. The party package includes prize drawings. The package price is $218.25 per couple in the new lodge. A cabin package is also available. Guests wanting to stay additional nights are offered discounted rooms rates.
Twin Falls State Park also hosts a First Day Hike Jan. 1 beginning at 10:30 a.m. and departing from the Huckleberry Trail. There is no cost to participate in the hike. Twin Falls is one of five West Virginia state parks featuring hikes Jan. 1. The others are Kanawha State Forest and Blackwater Falls, Cacapon and Pipestem state parks.

New Year’s Celebrations at West Virginia State Parks
Besides the Mardi Gras Masquerade party at Twin Falls State Park, lodges at other West Virginia state parks offer a variety of New Year’s Eve celebration options to bring in 2015. Different packages that feature dinner and dancing as well as overnight stays are available at the 10 state parks with lodges. Those include Blackwater Falls, Cacapon, Canaan Valley, Chief Logan, Hawks Nest, North Bend, Pipestem, Stonewall, Twin Falls and Tygart Lake.
Some parks will have music provided by disc jockeys, while Chief Logan Lodge will have live Big Band music with The Jaguars and North Bend Lodge will feature Pop Avenue Band.
