West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service will present a free workshop to help landowners properly maintain fruit trees Thursday, March 12, at 2 p.m. at the Kenna Grange in Kenna, W.Va.  Pre-registration is required.

“Many of us have fruit trees on our property, whether planted ourselves or inherited upon purchase,” said WVSU Extension Agent Brad Cochran. “This workshop is designed to educate people on the proper management techniques to ensure that trees remain healthy and beautiful.”

Designed for all experience levels, the workshop will focus on all aspects of fruit tree production, including planting, pruning, maintenance, harvesting and grafting. Instruction will be followed by a hands-on demonstration of proper pruning and grafting.

WVSU Extension Service is partnering with West Virginia University Extension Service’s Jackson County office to host the workshop.

To register, contact Cochran at (304) 541-3301 or bcochran2@wvstateu.edu.

Kenna Grange is located along Route 21 in Kenna, beside the former Kenna Elementary School.
