One Saturday each month through October will be an opportunity to join the “Nature Nuts” for a natural history exploration of Blennerhassett Island State Park. The Blennerhassett Island Nature Walk Program is scheduled for June 6, July 4, August 1, Sept. 5 and Oct. 1. The walks will last from 2 to 3:15 p.m. and each will cover a different topic. Participants should plan to ride the 1 p.m. or earlier boat from Point Park to the island. Tickets are available at the Blennerhassett Museum at 137 Juliana Street in downtown Parkersburg. The walk events are free.

“Anyone can attend. The more the merrier!” said Pam Salisbury, event coordinator. “We invite everyone to come early, learn about the natural history of our island, and enjoy the day.”

The leaders, who call themselves “The Nature Nuts,” are Master Naturalist volunteers from Parkersburg, West Virginia; and Belpre and Marietta, Ohio. Emily Grafton is the chapter leader and head “Nut.”
