FestivALL Charleston will celebrate FestivALL Fall for its 5th consecutive year. The festival will extend the popular city-wide multi-arts summer event into autumn for a weekend full of visual art, music, dance, theater and family fun from October 21-23, 2016.
Executive Director Brittany Javins is excited to announce this year’s lineup, which welcomes back many favorites from previous years along with new talents and unique events scattered throughout town. “October in Charleston has a well-rounded mix of events, and we love adding to that with a diverse offering of art and performance.”
Main events for FestivALL Fall 2016 include:
– The American Shakespeare Center returns to FestivALL in partnership with the Clay Center. The Staunton, VA based company will bring the drama of “Romeo & Juliet” to the stage. The company follows the basic principles of a Renaissance production, including a fully lit stage and interaction with the audience some of whom sit on stage. The American Shakespeare Center will offer a Student Only show at 10:30am and a Public Show at 7:30pm on Oct. 21. Tickets available at the Clay Center box office (304-561-3570 or theclaycenter.org).
– The 4th Harvest Art Fair, previously named the Harvest Gift Boutique, is scheduled for Oct. 22-23 at the elegant Woman’s Club of Charleston on the historic East End of Charleston. Over 35 new and returning juried artisans will sell their fine arts and fine crafts, making for the perfect holiday shopping extravaganza. Choose from unique masterpieces in pottery, fine art, jewelry, bath & body, furniture, photography, sculpture, specialty foods, textiles & apparel, and wood. This event is free and welcomes shoppers at all price levels. Free make-and-take activities will be provided by community groups.
– Revel in the colors of Charleston’s fall foliage at the Carriage Trail Leaf Walk on Oct. 23 from 1-4pm. Enjoy vignettes from the Alban Arts Center, Limelight Theatre Company, and the Children’s Theatre of Charleston with music by local bluegrass duo Peddlers Glory and the West Virginia Youth Symphony.
– Enjoy the beauty of ballet as the Charleston Ballet presents “Wizard of Oz” with dancers from the Columbia Classical Ballet. They will take you “Over the Rainbow” at 7:30pm on Oct. 21 & 22 at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theater.
– Become part of a 32 year tradition at a live recording of West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s Mountain Stage on Oct. 23 at 7pm. Guest host Conor Knighton will welcome Shovels & Rope, Todd Snider, Rhett Miller, Joe Purdy and The River Whyless to the Culture Center Theater.

The opening night of WVIFF, two days of FOOTMAD, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, “A Service for Jeremy Wong” presented by Contemporary Youth Arts Company, the return of the Short Sweet Historic Series, Pullin’ for MS! Wine, WV Craft Beer, and Art!, Oral History Interviews and “Memories of the Valley” Documentary, excerpts from Mother Hicks presented by the Alban Arts Center, Hops & Heat Chili Cookoff and Craft Beer Fest, MusicWorks brunch set, and new to this year’s lineup, Choir Now – a public sing-a-long led by local professionals Emily Capece and Ryan Kennedy.
