Kelly Services will celebrate its 60th anniversary in West Virginia at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 at its Charleston office located at 5707 MacCorkle Ave, SE.
The staffing company opened its doors in Charleston along Quarrier Street on Nov. 26, 1956, saving customers time and money with a qualified staff ready at a moment’s notice. Today Kelly Services is a workforce solutions company assisting people and businesses with professional and technical job opportunities and staffing.

Kelly Services is credited with pioneering the modern staffing services industry. Over the years, Kelly has diversified its services to cover a comprehensive array of outsourcing and consulting services including recruitment, human resource management, vendor management and outplacement services.
Additionally, Kelly provides staffing on a temporary, temporary-to-hire and direct-hire basis. Kelly employees can be found working in the fields of finance and accounting, education, engineering, information technology, law, since and healthcare.
Kelly Services was founded in Detroit in 1946 recognizing the changing needs of business after World War II. The bureau processed other businesses overflow paperwork and sent employees out to offices, to fill in for vacationing or sick employees and to supplement regular staff during short-term peak workloads.
In the company’s early years, temporary employees identified themselves as a “Kelly Girl” to identify themselves in a customer’s office. As industry and workforce diversified and evolved, Kelly’s services’ offered expanded. Today Kelly Services offers a wide range of professional and technical job opportunities to men and women in every industry and discipline – from the lab to the engineering department to the data center to the medical center.
