The application deadline for the 2018 Tom Dunn Energy Leadership Academy has been extended. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in applying can submit applications through Friday, June 8.
“We want to provide every student interested in attending the Academy with the opportunity to apply,” Dennis Xander, member of the Academy’s board of directors, said. “We hope these few extra days will encourage even more students to send in their applications.”
The Academy is taking place July 10-12, 2018, on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) in Buckhannon, W.Va. The three-day program, which is free of charge for all attendees, provides an in-depth look at West Virginia’s oil and natural gas industry. Students are immersed in the industry through classroom activities, presentations and field trips. Parents and students also have the opportunity to learn about industry-related programs offered at local colleges and universities during the college fair, which will be held July 12.
All costs, aside from transportation to and from WVWC, are covered by the Academy. Students are housed in the Dunn Hall dormitory on campus.
“This is a great opportunity for students interested in this industry or those who want to know what their home state has to offer,” Xander said. “We’re looking forward to another great year.”
Applications are available at www.TomDunnAcademy.org, and can be submitted electronically or by mail. Students who attend will receive certificates of completion for their efforts.
