Wirt County led West Virginia in new business growth percentage for September 2019. A total of three new businesses registered to operate in the County during the month, according to West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner.
The number of business entities in Wirt County grew from 118 to 121, which equates to a 2.54 percent increase. The Secretary of State’s Business & Licensing Division reported that Grant, Jefferson, Marshall and Mineral counties also had notable growth in the month of August.
“The continued increase in new business registrations is not only encouraging, but important to our state’s economic growth,” Warner said.
The number of business entities in Grant County grew from 375 to 382, with Jefferson County business entities increasing from 2,252 to 2,287. Marshall County experienced an increase in new business registrations from 662 to 672 and Mineral County went from 680 to 690 for the month of September.
Statewide, West Virginia saw an 8.62 percent growth in business registrations in the previous 12-month period. The increase in that 12-month period was led by Summers County with 15.82 percent growth.
