Officials from the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, West Virginia University Health Sciences Center Eastern Division, and WVU Hospitals East hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony today for Jefferson County’s newest urgent care.
WVU Urgent Care opened in the WVU Medical Office Building, across from Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, on October 15. The clinic is staffed by experienced WVU faculty physicians and offers evening and weekend hours.
Urgent Care treats patients of all ages for non-life-threatening injuries. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 8:00pm, Saturday from 8am to 8pm, and Sunday from Noon to 8pm. No appointment is necessary and most insurances are accepted.
According to K.C. Nau, MD, dean of the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division, urgent care is designed to improve access to primary healthcare services, particularly to those with busy lives who might find it difficult to fit healthcare into their day.
“Although the weekday hours are limited at this time, we plan to expand the urgent care center’s hours beginning in January 2013,” Nau said.
