The Mom’s Choice Awards has given a Gold designation to Shovelful of Sunshine by Stacie Vaughn Hutton, published by Headline Books Inc.
Shovelful of Sunshine is a children’s book paying tribute to coal miners and their families by a woman who grew up in the West Virginia coal fields.
“My book was inspired by the letters of coal miners, many of which are Shakespearean,” Hutton said. “I want the whole nation to know that miners and their families are courageous and patriotic – that miners helped to build this country.
