Leaders of the REACHH Family Resource Center, Inc. (FRC) at 411 Temple Street in Hinton, WV, would like to invite the community to attend an open house at noon on Friday, May 1, to showcase the non-profit’s recent renovations and new services added as a result of federal funding to facilitate the improvements.

Felisha Hartwell, executive director of REACHH-FRC, says light refreshments will be served and tours of the facility will be provided.

Hartwell would like to thank Senator Shelley Moore Capito and Representative Carol Miller for their support of a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant of $795,000 to make energy efficiency and equipment additions to the three historic buildings that make up REACHH-FRC’s services to Summers County citizens.

The fiscal year 2024 appropriations project approved by congress for the REACHH-FRC in Hinton is wrapping up successfully and the community facility serving Summers County families is seeing many positives from its execution. The REACHH-FRC is also home to the child advocacy center for the county. Senator Jim Justice was governor when this project was championed by Capito and Miller.

Hartwell and her board of directors are now seeking a federal grant and private donations to fund improvements to the child advocacy center they manage and offer more privacy and integrated services to respond to child abuse and family violence incidents.

REACHH-FRC was founded in 1986 in Hinton, providing a comprehensive and coordinated array of needed services including outreach, crisis intervention, advocacy, information, referrals and linkages, multi-disciplinary service planning, case management, counseling, group support, community education and children’s recreational and educational programs.
