Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin on Friday joined federal, state and local leaders to dedicate the new Logan state office building that houses needed state government services for the residents of Logan County.
“This is a great day for the people of southern West Virginia. No longer will they have to drive to Charleston in order to receive quality government services,” said Governor Tomblin. “Six state government offices are under one roof offering one-stop service with free parking in the heart of downtown Logan. I am pleased to officially dedicate this building and join local leaders in welcoming the additional business activity our state employees and constituents have already brought to area businesses like The Closet Shop, Rock City Cake Company, and 317 Steakhouse, among others.”
State agencies located within the five-story building include the Department of Health and Human Resources, WorkForce West Virginia, Division of Rehabilitation Services, the Offices of the Insurance Commissioner, State Tax Department and Workforce Investment Board. A total of 127 state employees are now working at this location.
Designed by McKinley and Associates, and constructed by Massaro Corporation for a cost of $16 million, the 54,000 gross square foot building was completed in June 2013. The Logan state office building is located at 130 Stratton St. in Logan. Operating hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
