The Petroleum Technology Transfer Council Appalachian Center of the West Virginia University National Research Center for Coal and Energy will be hosting two technology workshops for the shale gas industry on Sept. 4 and 5 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe near Canonsburg, Pa.
The Sept. 4 workshop, Wellbore Integrity, will explore the latest research findings to understand and improve shale gas well construction.
The Sept. 5 workshop, Natural Gas Power for Shale Development, will focus on the use of natural gas to replace diesel as a cleaner fuel for generating the on-site power needed for drilling and hydraulic fracturing.
Both workshops are part of the Environmentally Friendly Drilling Systems Program, which receives support from the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America through funding from the U.S. Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory.
Participants will be eligible to receive professional development certification through the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council at WVU.
