Students at the Huntington campus of Marshall University will be greeted by an impressive free speech wall as they enter the Memorial Student center starting Wednesday, September 18th. The Young Americans for Liberty chapter built this display and is asking students to express their thoughts freely or in answer to the question “What frustrates you the most with the government today?” This is to educate students and motivate them to use their first amendment right that our founding fathers fought for.
The free speech wall will be outside the Memorial Student center in the plaza from Wednesday, September 18th – Friday, September 20th as part of a national activism project organized by more than 150 YAL chapters nationwide.
“Students won’t be able to miss the wall,” Caitlin Grimes, Marshall YAL President said. “We hope hundreds of Marshall’s students will participate and reaffirm their rights to free speech.”
“The constitution is not an afterthought,” Nick Chancey, Marshall YAL Vice-President said. “Its principles are being violated now more than ever and people are finally waking up that.”
The Marshall YAL chapter was formed in February 2013 and has grown to more than twenty active members. The members will be seen tabling near the wall this week and look forward to discussing its message with students.
Young Americans for Liberty is the largest, most active and fastest growing libertarian and conservative organization on America’s college campuses, with a network of more than 450 chapters nationwide. YAL seeks to recruit, train, educate, and mobilize students on the ideals of individual liberty and the U.S. Constitution. Learn more at yaliberty.org.
