Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed Samuel Winans, Vienna, and Karen Facemyer, Ripley, to the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Board of Governors. They fill seats left vacant by Cindy Bullock and Steve Chancey.
Bullock resigned from the Board in April after five years of service, and Chancey resigned in August after three years of service.
“We are very grateful for Cindy’s and Steve’s years of volunteer service on our Board,” says WVU Parkersburg President Dr. Marie Foster Gnage. “They contributed much to our college and will certainly be missed.”
Winans has been vice president of West Virginia-based Winans Sanitary Supply Co., Inc. for 27 years. Prior to returning to the family business, he worked for American Cyanamid and Cabot Corporation where he was based in Houston, Texas for ten years with both positions.
He has served as Board chair for the Wood County Development Authority Area Roundtable, the Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Humane Society of Parkersburg, the Parkersburg Art Center and the Mid-Ohio Valley Adult Baseball league. Winans has also served on the St. Joseph’s Hospital Board of Trustees, Greater Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce, St. Francis Xavier Parish Council, Camden Clark Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, Henderson Hall Advisory Committee and Smoot Theater Board of Directors.
Facemyer has been president of the Polymer Alliance Zone of West Virginia since 2006. She has served four terms in the West Virginia House of Delegates and was elected in 2000 as a member of the West Virginia State Senate where she served three four-year terms. In 2008, the National Association of Professional and Executive Women (NAPEW) selected Facemyer into the registry for “Women in Excellence” and in 2009 the NAPEW honored her as “Woman of the Year” in economic development.
