West Virginia Radio Corporation and Dollar Energy Fund are teaming up again for the 4th Annual Warmathon, a live, one-day broadcast from West Virginia Radio Corporation studios on December 17th. The Warmathon will support Dollar Energy Fund’s West Virginia Utility Assistance Program, which helps limited-income families maintain or restore basic utility service.
The Warmathon broadcast, which can be heard on 58 WCHS-AM and 98.7 The Beat, will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17th.
“No one should have to face a winter without utility service, but the unfortunate reality is that many local families are struggling to afford the monthly cost of safely heating their homes,” said Rachel Coffman, program manager of the Appalachian Region of Dollar Energy Fund. “The Warmathon provides an opportunity for neighbors to help neighbors during the coldest months. Every donation will receive a dollar-for-dollar match from our partnering utility companies and all funds will be used to directly benefit individuals, senior citizens and families who are in need of assistance.”
WV Radio and Dollar Energy Fund encourage West Virginians to help spread the warmth and support the Warmathon. Those wanting to make a contribution can call 1-304-340-0190 during the event, mail a check to P.O. Box 3979, Charleston, WV 25339, or visit www.wvwarmathon.com. Donation incentives will be announced throughout the broadcast.
Local utilities, including Appalachian Power, West Virginia American Water, Mountaineer Gas, Equitable Gas, Dominion Hope Gas, Mon Power, a FirstEnergy Company and Potomac Edison, a FirstEnergy Company, along with area corporations, small businesses and volunteers, are joining WV Radio Corporation and Dollar Energy Fund in this effort.
The event has raised more than $200,000 since 2010 and limited-income families across the state have benefited from the generosity of Warmathon donors.
Since 2008, Dollar Energy Fund’s West Virginia Utility Assistance Program has helped over 22,000 low-income families and senior citizens on fixed incomes maintain or restore utility service through smart, efficient programs, including emergency assistance, payment counseling and weatherization. Dollar Energy Fund, Inc. is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
