American National University in Parkersburg Welcomes Senator Donna J. Boley to the 2014 Commencement Ceremony

On Thursday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m., the Parkersburg Campus of American National University will hold its graduation ceremony at Parkersburg Art Center with special guest West Virginia State Senator Donna J. Boley as the commencement speaker.

Donna J. Boley (R-Pleasants, District 3) has served her community and state as a senator for nearly thirty years.  Born in Tyler County, she retired from the private sector and was appointed by Governor Arch A. Moore, Jr. to the Senate in 1985.  She then won the 1986 election for her appointed seat and is one of the first women to serve in the state legislature.

Currently, Senator Boley serves on numerous committees, including Energy, Industry and Mining, Finance, Health and Human Resources, Rules, Government Organization, Military and Education. Senator Boley has previously served as the Senate Minority Leader; a delegate to the Republican National Convention numerous times; the 70th, 71st, and 72nd Legislature’s Other Public Service Chairman; and was the recipient of the Distinguished West Virginian Award.  She has also served her political party in various capacities throughout the state and on national presidential campaigns.

During the graduation ceremony, the Class of 2014 will accept their new degrees after hearing from Senator Boley. In addition, selected graduates will receive awards for leadership and high academic achievements from the business, information technology, and health care programs.
