Patti Phillips, director of development and marketing for Catholic Charities WV, announced the appointment of Jamie Bordas as chairman of the organization’s 3rd Annual Mardi Gras Gala. The event takes place Feb. 9 at Oglebay’s Pine Room.

“The purpose of the gala is to further the awareness of Catholic Charities WV as a statewide agency that is both fiscally and administratively self-governing,” Phillips said. “We are honored to serve as the social service arm of the Diocese and are supported with resources and guidance from Most Rev. Michael J. Bransfield.

“We are very pleased to have Mr. Bordas directing our team again this year. His leadership will help us build upon the successes of our previous galas, and as a result, help us further our mission of serving the needs of those in our community,” she said.

Bordas said, “I am both honored and humbled to have been asked by Catholic Charities to serve as chairman for this Gala for the second year in a row. I have agreed to serve in this capacity because my wife, Stacy, and I both recognize the important work that this organization does to benefit people throughout West Virginia who are most in need of help. I am looking forward to another successful event.”

Phillips explained the proceeds of the event will support Catholic Charities WV programs and services that support children and families who live in poverty or are at-risk of falling below the poverty line.
