Bowles Rice Attorney Named Chairman of West Virginia Aeronautics Commission

Bowles Rice attorney John Woods has been named chairman of the West Virginia Aeronautics Commission (WVAC) by Governor Earl Woods_John_smallRay Tomblin. Woods has served on the Commission for more than 14 years, appointed and reappointed by Governors Cecil Underwood, Bob Wise and Tomblin. The WVAC fosters and assists in the development of aeronautics in West Virginia and encourages the establishment of airports and air navigation facilities.

Woods served as a naval aviator and attained the rank of Captain in the United State Marine Corps Fleet Marine Forces, is a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol and holds a commercial pilot’s license.

He is a partner in the Charleston office of Bowles Rice and focuses his practice on energy and mineral law, concentrating on multi-thousand acre title projects across the state of West Virginia. Woods holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in systems management from the University of Southern California, and a law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law.
