Calhoun County Leads in New Business Growth for May 2019

Calhoun County led in new business growth percentage for May 2019 with a total of four new businesses, according to West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner.

That equates to a 2.50 percent growth for Calhoun County. The Secretary of State’s Business & Licensing Division reported Mason, Monroe, Summers and Braxton counties also had notable growth in the month of May.

“West Virginia is experiencing a steady growth in new business start-ups. That growth is a very important and significant objective for a strong economy,” Warner said.

The number of business entities in Mason County grew from 607 to 621, with Monroe County business entities increasing from 433 to 443. Summers County experienced an increase in business entities from 371 to 379 and Braxton County went from 367 to 374 business entities.

Statewide, West Virginia saw an 11.31 percent growth in business registrations in the previous 12-month periodThe growth in that 12-month period was led by Summers Countywith 21.09 percent growth.
