Canaan Valley Resort State Park is the only meeting facility in West Virginia to receive ConventionSouth magazine’s 2014 Top New or Renovated Meeting Site Award. Meeting planners look for new or renovated conference facilities and publications such as ConventionSouth deliver that information.

“According to the publishers and editors of ConventionSouth, “Canaan Valley is among an elite group of 50 meeting facilities located throughout the south to be named to this list, and the only location in West Virginia.”

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new 160 room resort lodge and expanded facilities was held Nov. 5, 2013. The $24 million dollar construction project occurred over a two-year period at the four-season resort state park. Canaan Valley is known for outstanding golf, exceptional downhill and snowboarding, and the longest snow tubing park in the east with eight 1,200-foot lanes.  Meeting facilities are expansive and include full-service restaurant, catering and conference/convention planning.

“We are honored to bestow Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center with a Top New or Renovated Meeting Site Award,” said ConventionSouth Associate Publisher Marlane Bundock. “After a lengthy review of what Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center now has to offer meeting planners and attendees, we feel it indeed displays a superior commitment to providing groups with the top-of-the-line amenities and service that they require.”

Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center is featured as an award recipient in the December 2013 Awards Issue of ConventionSouth magazine. Celebrating 30+ years as a leading meeting planning resource, ConventionSouth magazine is based in Gulf Shores, Ala., and is distributed to more than 18,000 meeting professionals across the country who book meetings held within the South, according to Bundock.

Award winning Canaan Valley Resort is located in Tucker County. The resort is near Blackwater Falls State Park, in Davis. Both state parks attract visitors to West Virginia for the year-round scenic beauty and for outdoor recreation.

“We are honored to receive this award and invite not only meeting attendees and meeting planners, but also anyone, individuals or groups, to visit and enjoy the beautiful facilities and surroundings, here at Canaan Valley State Park,” said Rob Gilligan, park superintendent. “You won’t be disappointed.”
