U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), member of the Appropriations Committee, today announced Clay County Business Development Authority is the recipient of a $2,746,743.29 grant to aid flood cleanup. Funding is provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
“Many parts of West Virginia are still cleaning up following the 2016 and 2017 floods,” Senator Capito said. “Funding support like this helps communities rebuild. As chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee, which funds FEMA, I’m proud to see the progress Clay County has made since the floods, and I know this additional aid will continue that progress.”
“In recent years, West Virginia has endured multiple weather-related disasters that ravaged our state and continue to impact our communities. I am pleased to see Clay County receive this critical $2.7 million in funding, and I encourage all of our communities that are still recovering to apply to FEMA for assistance repairing damages caused by severe storms, flooding, mudslides, and landslides and mitigating future hazards. As a member of the Appropriations committee, I will continue to fight for the funding that West Virginia needs to repair our communities and prepare us for future disasters,” Senator Manchin said.
