Frost Brown Todd (FBT) Charleston Member-in-Charge Carte Goodwin has become the President of the West Virginia Bar Association (WVBA) for the 2020-21 year. Founded in 1886, the WVBA is a voluntary non-profit membership association for West Virginia’s legal profession, including attorneys, judges, legal assistants, law students, and other individuals from the legal community.

“It is an honor to lead the West Virginia Bar Association for its 136th year,” says Goodwin. “As one of the country’s oldest voluntary bars, the Bar Association has a proud history in our state. My predecessors in this role include some of the most distinguished members of our state’s legal community and they have set a high bar for me and for this organization. I look forward to following their example and working to grow the Bar Association in fresh and exciting ways.”

Goodwin also serves as Vice-Chair of FBT’s Appellate Practice Group and as a principal with CivicPoint, the firm’s public affairs subsidiary, and his practice includes litigation and appellate advocacy, advising clients on government relations, and commercial transactions.
