CASA of the Eastern Panhandle is racing for awareness this month. The organization is hosting a virtual Superhero Challenge throughout the month of October to raise awareness and support for children in Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties who have faced situations of abuse or neglect.

Online fundraising services provider, atlasGO, and CASA of the Eastern Panhandle invite all runners, joggers, walkers, and hikers alike to break a sweat throughout the month of October in the “Superhero Challenge.” Participants can register and track their miles on the atlasGO site and/or download the atlasGO app.

This socially distanced race is unlike a normal road race where hundreds or thousands of runners gather on the same route at the same time. Instead, the CASA-EP Superhero Challenge can be completed on your own time, at your own pace, and at a location of your choosing. Run, walk or hike on your own, with your kids, or other family. Create a friendly competition with runner friends and colleagues in your favorite superhero costume. Participants are encouraged to share photos on social media by tagging #mycasaep and encourage others to be an advocate for vulnerable children.

Sponsorship of the “Superhero Challenge” includes many local businesses and organizations and will remain open throughout the month, as well as donation opportunities for non-participants. Race registration will remain open until the end of October; prices for registration vary depending on the distance goal of your choice. Completion of the Superhero Challenge brings opportunity for complimentary T-shirts and fun raffle prizes that are valued up to $500.

After transaction costs, 100% of the Superhero Challenge registration fee is a donation and will be used to help real-life superhero volunteers provide court advocacy and support to children whose lives have been turned upside down by neglect, abuse, and abandonment.

For more information or to register or donate online, please visit www.mycasaep.org or find CASA of the Eastern Panhandle on Facebook and other social media. Support for CASA-EP helps ensure that every child who has faced abuse or neglect is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home.
