Chen appointed dean of MU College of Business

Marshall University has announced the appointment of Dr. Haiyang Chen as dean of its College of Business.

Formerly a professor and founding managing director with the Global Financial Services Institute in the Cotsakos College of Business at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J., he assumed his position at Marshall on July 1.

Chen has been at Global Financial Services Institute since 2008. Princeton Review rates Global as one of the top 300 business schools in the country for its MBA program.

Previously, Chen was head of Graduate Business Programs from 1994 to 1995 at the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University. From 1995 to 2002, he was a professor of finance at the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown.

From 2002 to 2008, Chen served as founding director of E*TRADE FINANCIAL Learning Center with the Cotsakos College of Business at William Paterson University.

Chen earned his master’s degree in economics from Kent State University in 1987 and his Ph.D. in finance, also from Kent, in 1990.
