The Concord University Division of Business will host the 22nd Annual Concord Business Challenge (CBC) on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015 on the Athens campus.  The Business Challenge is designed to give high school students an opportunity to test their business knowledge base and teachers an opportunity to learn about “Online Classes…Easier than you Think.”

Approximately 350 junior and senior high school students are expected to attend the Business Challenge from West Virginia and Virginia.

Activities begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast in the lobby of the Alexander Fine Arts Center followed by a welcome from Concord President Dr. Kendra Boggess and Division of Business Chair Dr. Susan Robinett.  The first testing sessions will begin at 9:30 a.m. with an awards ceremony at 12:10 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Main Theatre.

A high school junior or senior attending the Concord Business Challenge may compete for one of two $4,000 scholarships and ten non-renewable scholarships.  The 12 winners will be selected based on their Business Challenge scholarship examination performance.  Each winner must meet admissions criteria established by the University for entering freshmen.  The two students scoring the highest on the exam will qualify for a $1,000 per year scholarship when they enroll full-time at Concord University. After the students’ first academic year, the scholarship will be renewed if the student maintains at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) and remains in good standing with the University.  The scholarship will be renewable for up to eight semesters, with a maximum total award up to $4,000 for each winner.  The remaining 10 scholarship winners will each receive a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship when they enroll full-time at Concord University.  The Admissions Office will be the primary administrator of the awards.

A guest speaker will present to the teachers, counselors, and principals in the Nick J. Rahall Technology Center and the Alexander Fine Arts Theatre.

For registration information contact the CBC Coordinator, Bonnie Brown at (304) 384-5244.
