The Concord University Biology Department in the Division of Science, Mathematics, and Health is hosting Pre-Professional Day on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Jerry and Jean Beasley Student Center Ballroom.

The event will include a poster session featuring research conducted by Concord students during the fall semester and a graduate and professional school fair. The Concord University Office of Admissions is partnering with the Biology Department to host Pre-Professional Day.

Graduate programs planning to attend include: West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, Marshall University Physical Therapy Program, Marshall University School of Pharmacy, Marshall University Biomedical Graduate Program, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Charleston School of Pharmacy, Appalachian College of Pharmacy, Radford University Physical Therapy Program, Concord University Master of Arts in Health Promotion, James Madison Physician Assistant Program, University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Virginia Tech School of Veterinary Medicine, and Jefferson College of Health Sciences.

High school students from Mercer, Raleigh, Summers, Monroe, Wyoming, McDowell, Fayette, and Mingo county schools have been invited to attend Pre-Professional Day. The itinerary for high school students includes an admissions information session; a tour of the campus; an opportunity to view the posters and visit the graduate school exhibits; and a Q & A session with Concord biology students and faculty.

The Pre-Professional Day event is important for undergraduate students because it is an opportunity to present research, and also to meet with professional graduate program representatives in various areas of interest. High school students interested in a career in medicine, health, environmental science, or other science professions, or interested in attending college in general, would benefit by attending Pre-Professional Day.
