University Healthcare and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, commonly referred to as COPD.
The seminar will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 7 pm in the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus.
The guest speaker is Phillip Aguila, MD, a pulmonologist with University Pulmonary Medicine Associates and a member of the medical staff at Berkeley Medical Center. Dr. Aguila is also an assistant professor on faculty at the WVU School of Medicine.
COPD is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. Millions of people are diagnosed with COPD, and many more may have the disease and don’t even know it. The mini-medical school program will focus on the causes, symptoms and treatment options available for COPD.
Registration begins at 6:30 pm with the program to follow from 7 – 8 pm. Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar.
