Davis & Elkins College will present A Celebration of the Arts on Saturday, April 25, from 6 to 10 p.m. in Myles Center for the Arts. The evening, filled with music, visual art, theatre and dance, will showcase the College’s Division of Fine and Performing Arts with all proceeds to support student scholarships in the arts.

D&E President Dr. Michael Mihalyo notes: “We are planning a unique and festive evening that will share the talents of our students and also engage friends of the arts in our excellent programs for young artists. It is our hope that the community will join us and help celebrate the talent and creativity that will be on display.”

The evening will begin with a heavy hors d’oeuvres reception and art exhibit at 6 p.m. in the Joni and Buck Smith Arts Forum, followed by one hour of performances in Harper-McNeeley Auditorium, and ending with a second reception with prizes and dancing.

Performances will include theatre scenes from “Fair and Tender Ladies” and “Harvey,” the College Concert Choir, including a performance of a George Gershwin medley arranged and accompanied by D&E Artist-in-Residence Jack Gibbons, works performed by D&E Dance students as well as the traditional string and dance group Appalachian Ensemble. Tickets for the event are $50 per person.

The College has assembled a committee to help ensure the evening will be one to remember.
